Ms. Murray's Classes
Hello Pre-K Families, Please be sure your child comes to school every day with the following items: a water bottle, utensils (if needed for snack or lunch), and all outdoor gear. Thank you! The kids are loving the space station! They are showing off their engineering skills by using "space parts" to add things to the rocket ship. They are truly immersed in the experience! We've been enjoying books about space by Oliver Jeffers, such as How to Catch a Star and Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth. We were also working on our fine motor skills this week, using small pencils to write space words, and using dry erase markers to follow different space themed dotted lines. On Wednesday, the kids really enjoyed conquering the giant snow piles that are out behind our school. Stay Warm! Ms. Murray

Happy Friday! Announcements:
Not much to report on this week, since pre-k only had one day of school. The students on Wednesday enjoyed playing on the climbing structure in the snow, sliding down the slide, and trudging through the deep, deep snow! Next time your kids come to school, the dramatic play will be a space station! We had a lively discussion on Wednesday about outer space, and boy, do they know their stuff! Below is a picture of what they said astronauts need, see, and can do. They came up with amazing answers, and can't wait to become NASA employees. Enjoy your weekend! Ms. Murray Hi Folks! Announcements:
We had a fun week of exploring the snow outside and inside our classroom. We brought snow in to put into the sensory table this week. They had a ton of fun using small Arctic animals and discussed the animal's habitats. As we get closer to February, we will focus more on friendships by reading books about friendships and having more in-depth discussions about our classroom community. Our dramatic play will be changing soon. Next week, we will have a conversation about what we would need to add to our dramatic play area to turn it into NASA! I think they will enjoy it! Have a good weekend! Ms. Murray Hi Pre-K Families, Announcements:
We had a fun week of exploration, emotions, playing, and color mixing! We focused heavily on emotions this week. Around time of year, all of the students know each other quite well and are very comfortable with each other, so intentional teaching around their own feelings and feelings of others helps put things in perspective for them. Everyone enjoyed making the "emotion face" of their choosing and then cut it out onto feelings posters with pictures from magazines. Check out our bulletin board in the hallway to see the posters! On Thursday, we did more experimenting with color mixing -- with snow! We all put small tissue paper squares onto paper, then scooped snow on top. As we waited, the snow melted and mixed the colors. As always, we have a great time playing outside in the mounds of snow we have here at Rumney! Please make sure your child has everything they need each day (snow pants/suit, hat, mittens, boots, jacket). Enjoy your weekend! Ms. Murray Happy New Year Pre-K Families! Announcements:
We had an extremely short week, and that two hour delay was quite unexpected! With these two days back, we were getting back into the swing of routines, remembering our classroom rules, and talking about being safe. Each morning, the students answer a Question of the Day. Questions range from "Do you like carrots?" to "Do you have 7 letters in your name?". They all really look forward to answering it, and enjoyed doing a new addition after called The Feelings Wheel. It is a small wheel that they can move the arrow to describe how they're currently feeling. It was introduced this week, and we will continue it every morning as we delve deeper into feelings. We enjoyed color mixing this week and will be learning more about mixing colors over the next few weeks! Enjoy your weekend with your children! Ms. Murray |
