Ms. Murray's Classes
Hello Pre-K Families! Announcements:
What a lovely week we had! We watched the students make connections, build upon friendships, and continue to be safe in our classroom. We had a big focus this week, and it was Mat Man. Mat Man (pictured below this paragraph) is a way to build and draw a person from the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum. We use wooden pieces and a blue mat to create Mat Man, that goes with a song. We focused on building him while singing the song on Monday & Tuesday, and drawing him on Wednesday & Thursday! Here is a link to the Mat Man song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ec7J57YewxQ Another focus of this week was learning the difference between our inside voice and our outside voice. We had conversations about when we can use our outside voice, and why we only use our inside voice inside (example: It hurts my ears when we scream in the classroom, let's save that voice for the playground). Dramatic Play Area: Next week, I will be transforming the dramatic play area into a campsite! We discussed what we need (tent, sleeping bags, lanterns, pretend fire, etc.) and what animals we could see in our pretend campsite! They are really looking forward to "going camping" with their friends! Ask Your Child: Did you learn about Mat Man this week? Tell me about him. Did you sing a song about him? Have a great weekend! Ms. Murray

Hello Pre-K Families! Announcements:
What a week! This weeks focus was starting centers. The children were introduced to our yellow center board. Their pictures go next to a center, and after a certain amount of time, we switch. They are having so much fun in the different centers! Some of the centers we did this week were: painting, play doh, trains, cars & trucks, and the barn with farm animals. Here is a photo of our center board: Every morning when your child gets to school, we answer a "Question of the Day". They are always yes or no questions such as: Are you wearing blue today? Have you ever been apple picking? Do you have a pet at home? Questions like these can spark conversations between peers, to see what kind of connections they might have with one another. Ask Your Child: Have you been practicing yoga at school? Can you show me a yoga pose that you know? We have LOTS of pictures from this week. We have so many pictures that we have two slideshows this week. Enjoy! Have a great weekend with your children, Ms. Murray Hello Pre-K Families, Thank you to those that attended Class Meeting Night. If you could not make it, please check in the front lobby to get the packet that was handed out to each family. Our classroom would love a family photo to hang up on our family wall! Thank you to those who have sent them in already! This week, we built upon the friendships that are forming, sang songs while dancing, and played so much! Lunch and snack times are a great way to build upon friendships, share what they are eating, and make connections. We have been listening to soothing classical music during snack and lunch time, and the students seem to enjoy it quite a bit! On Thursday, the students found a very large caterpillar outside. After that, we brought the outside in with dirt, sticks, rocks, and leaves to make "caterpillar homes". Ask Your Child: Have you used the dress up clothes in the classroom? What have you dressed up as? I hope you have a great weekend with your children! Ms. Murray Hello Pre-K Families! Save the date! Rumney Class Meeting Night is next Thursday, September 13th. The Pre-K session will meet in the classroom from 5-5:30 pm. This event is for adults only, to come into the Pre-K classroom to sit down with me and learn more about the Pre-K curriculum. I hope to see you there! Attached is a link for you to ask questions about Class Meeting night: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScLtwZRxZK23QkhLv-msfUwKycp0zt4o1BX-P2_6Rh8TDF0Bw/viewform?usp=sf_link We had a great time in Pre-K this week. We are still building friendships, remembering other friends' names, and exploring our classroom and playground. During Morning Meeting time, we are reading our morning message, doing a greeting, dancing to a song, and practicing a yoga move. We are enjoying the different dances and yoga moves. For yoga, we use cards that are called ABC Yoga for Kids. They have a poem to go with each move to help remember each one. Outside, we have been practicing our playground rules again this week. Each child is extremely proud of themselves for knowing how to be safe while we are outside! Have a lovely weekend! Ms. Murray |
