Ms. Murray's Classes
Hi Pre-K Families! Announcements:
Looking ahead: I will not be in school on Monday, October 29th and Thursday, November, 1st. I apologize for not being in school on those days! We had a great fall week playing in the outdoors, and exploring the inside of pumpkins! We have finished up camping in the dramatic play area, and have moved on to some free choice in there with some new objects. We have an old computer, and an old video camera that they have enjoyed! I added sticky notes, pencils, to do lists, and more to make it feel like an office. Students have really gotten into "working" by typing away on the computer and answering phone calls! We LOVED gutting pumpkins. They learned what each part of the pumpkin is called and got to explore all of it. Spoons were offered if they did not want to put their hands inside of the pumpkin. We counted seeds and separated seeds from strands. Please be sure to send your children with water bottles and utensils (if needed). Have a great weekend, Ms. Murray

Hello Pre-K Families! Announcements:
What a great week we had! The students enjoyed learning words associated with fall, writing them, stamping them, and the older students worked on sounding out some of those words. Since we are in a mixed age group, students who are a little older will take one extra step when it comes to literacy and math. A good example of that is sounding out letters and identifying their individual sounds in fall themed words. We read a story called The Legend of Spookley: The Square Pumpkin. It was about a square pumpkin who is brave and helps save the pumpkin patch. On Thursday, we wished an adult in our classroom, Katherine, good luck and good bye. Katherine is moving out of Vermont so we celebrated her by making cupcakes! Everyone enjoyed measuring out the ingredients, mixing them together, and putting the mix in the cupcake pans. The hardest part was waiting for them to be done cooking! We are wrapping up our camping unit this week. Within the next few weeks, the students will help decide what our dramatic play area should turn into next! Ask Your Child: Tell me about Spookley the Square pumpkin. Did you make your own Spookley? Enjoy your weekend! Ms. Murray Hello Pre-K Families! Announcements:
We really enjoyed camping again this week. The students fished in the "pond" for fish that had numbers on them. Our camping unit will last for about two more weeks. Outside time has been so fun this week! With the bright sunny days and rainy ones, we got to experience outdoors in different ways. On Thursday, we enjoyed going out to the rock garden and watched the stream flow very fast. During centers this week, we had a "Ms. Murray" center. When the center is me, it is a teacher direct activity that every student attends. Each center has 3 or 4 students each, to better work with students in a smaller group setting. This week, we discussed how to draw yourself, and how to determine that. We looked in mirrors to explore eye, hair, and skin colors. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Ms. Murray Hello Pre-K Families! Important Dates!
We started our camping unit this week! The students explored the camp site in our dramatic play that we are calling Rumney State Park. They explored the camping materials which are: tent, sleeping bags, pretend smores, flashlights, pretend bug spray and sunscreen, and more! We learned how to use the materials successfully and have fun! We will be continuing the camp site over the next few weeks. The sixth grade class (Mr. Diddey's students) came to visit the campsite on Wednesday and had a great time engaging with the preschool students! It was lovely to see older students be so kind and compassionate to our young learners. As always, we have enjoyed our time outside, even when it is raining! Please be sure to send your child to school with boots and a jacket every day. Ask Your Child: Tell me about camping! Is there a tent in your classroom? What else is in the dramatic play area? I hope to see you at Open House! Ms. Murray |
