Ms. Murray's Classes
Hi Pre-K Families, We had a great time opening up our Pizzeria this week. Everyone got turns to be the chef, the server, and the customer. There is so much language and math happening in our pizza shop! They are taking orders, making choices, counting out toppings and money, and having so much fun. On Wednesday, Nicole from the Kellogg-Hubbard Library came to visit. The students listened to stories that she read, and did a fun craft based on The Mitten by Jan Brett. Each student also got a free book to take home and keep. KHL will be coming next Tuesday, December 4th at 11:30. Families are welcome to bring younger siblings, this is a community event! We enjoyed being outside this week and going sledding! Many students tried the sledding hill, either on the small sleds, or on their bottoms, and continued to laugh and talk about it throughout the day. Please make sure to send your child in with all winter gear every day. Thank you! Ask Your Child: Tell me about the pizza shop. Did you make a pizza? Did you order a pizza? Have a great weekend, Ms. Murray

Good evening Families, Announcements:
What a fun week of chilly weather and snow! Everyone had a great time outside exploring, making snow angels, and making stronger connections with one another. Each child worked extremely hard to put on all of their snow gear! We made name turkey paper bag puppets. The students on Wednesday enjoyed putting on an impromptu turkey puppet show. We are beginning to focus more on counting and number recognition. On Thursday, we searched through rice to find magnetic numbers to number cards on cookie sheets. After the Thanksgiving break, the dramatic play will turn into a pizzeria. I will ask the students questions this week on what we need to successfully run a pizza shop. Ask Your Child: Did you play outside in the snow? Did you see snowmen? Was there a snow fort? Stay safe and warm! Ms. Murray Good afternoon Pre-K Families! Announcements:
We have started diving deeper into what it means to be kind. The students have shared meaningful examples on how to be kind to others, and how they can be kind in the classroom. We read a story called How Kind by Mary Murphy. It showed how one act of kindness can lead to another, and another, etc. We also played a wonderful board game this week called Friends and Neighbors (pictured below). This board game is a cooperative game, where the players work together to try to win. The game focused on helping our your friends and neighbors with tasks such as helping a cat from a tree, getting towels for spilled milk, and getting a baby a bottle. We went on a number hunt throughout our school on Monday and Tuesday. Watching the students get excited about numbers was wonderful to see! We went in groups of 3 or 4, and once we found the number, we would count how many dots were underneath and trace the number on the card. Older students used chalk boards to practice writing their numbers. On Thursday, we said our heartfelt goodbyes to our lovely classmate, Sophia! Sophia will be attending another school. They enjoyed a special question of the day, "Do you LOVE Sophia?" (everyone answered yes! -- how kind!!). Also on Thursday, we had two special visitors: Blakely's grandmother and mom came to read a The Hat by Jan Brett, and then something extra special happened! Blakely's grandmother (Grammy Mary) gave everyone a hat that she knitted! A big thank you to Grammy Mary! See you next week for conferences, Ms. Murray Hi Pre-K Families, Announcements:
Wow, November already! We had such a fun week of pumpkin exploration, dressing up, and going on our costume parade. Thank you for joining us in the classroom on Tuesday and Wednesday. The children enjoyed showing their grown ups what happens in our classroom. The students (and grown ups) enjoyed dressing up in their costumes! They were all very excited to go on our costume parade throughout the school. Some fine motor skills were worked on this week while the students used small hammers to hammer golf tees into pumpkins. Many of them expressed that it was a hard activity, but persevered through and they were so proud of themselves when they accomplished it! Kellogg-Hubbard Library comes to visit our classroom twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring. They will be visiting us this year on Tuesday, 11/13, and Wednesday, 11/14, both days at 11:30 am. When they come, they read stories, do a fun activity, and every child gets a brand new free book to take home! This is available to all community members. If you have younger children and are able to come in, please join us, your younger children will get a free book as well. Ask Your Child: Did you go on a parade in your costumes? Where did you go? Who did you see? Please be sure to send your children to school with the appropriate cold weather gear each day. Have a great weekend! Ms. Murray |
