Ms. Murray's Classes
Hello Families! I apologize for the late blog post. Announcement:
Thank you to all of those who donated dry erase markers! The kids love using them to practice name writing and free draw. We had a fun last week before vacation. On Monday and Tuesday, students practiced letter formation on a giant poster on the ground. They used dot paint to "dot" the letters, while identifying them. I assisted with that and also let them know a word that starts with that letter (example: B for Boat). On Wednesday and Thursday, we enjoyed dancing to different types of music with scarves. They threw the scarves up in the air, caught them, and twirled them. This week was our last week at the space station in our dramatic play. What fun they had! Over the course of this unit, they traveled to Mars, "called" and "emailed" their families to let them know they won't be home for dinner due to space travel, used the mission control, checked fuel tanks, and SO much more! Every student was immersed in this experience. Ask Your Child: Did you use dot paint on a big poster? Were there letters or numbers on the paper? Have a great school vacation, see you on March 6th! Ms. Murray

Hello Pre-K Families! Announcements:
We had a lovely time of celebrating friendship this week. Students were interested in writing Valentine's Day words, exchanging valentines and playing heart-themed games. Math and literacy were woven into the Valentine's Day activities, and they were excited to flex their skills. Outside was a blast this week! We found very tall mountains to climb on and deep snow to trudge through. We are very lucky to go to school with such a variety of places to play! Science fun: we made oobleck this week! Oobleck is a mix of corn starch and water (so easy!). We used food coloring to make the oobleck different colors. The students enjoyed this fun sensory experience and couldn't wait to go home and tell you all about it. If you would like to make oobleck at home, the recipe is: 1 cup corn starch, half cup water. Mix together and enjoy! Ask Your Child: Did you make oobleck this week? Tell me about it. What color was your oobleck? Have a wonderful weekend, Ms. Murray Good evening Families, We had another stellar week in pre-k. All the kids (and grown ups) enjoyed how warm it was, and took advantage of that by exploring all around the building outside during recess time. On Thursday, we got to see someone checking out the generator to make sure it still works, it was exciting for them to watch that! Our space unit is still chugging along, and they are all enjoying different aspects of it. They are making flight plans, counting the crew, and even "emailing" their families to let them know they will be going to space. We worked on different types of name writing this week, from name puzzles, using dot paint to write their names, and using different colored crayons to write rainbow names. Younger students are becoming more and more familiar with their names every day. We also practiced letter recognition this week with a game called "read, write, build". The students picked a letter card, wrote the letter, and then found the letter from the magnetic letters. They were all very proud of themselves! Ask Your Child: Tell me the space station. Are there space parts? What do you do with them? Lots and lots of pictures this week!! Have a wonderful weekend! Ms. Murray |
