Ms. Murray's Classes
Hi Pre-K Families! Wow, another year in the books. Before I give you the weekly update, here’s the sappy part: Thank you all SO much. This has been my most challenging year of teaching yet with all of the different requirements due to COVID. I could not have done this without all of you absolutely wonderful families. Your children brought so much joy into my life each day. Thank you so much for sharing them with me this challenging year. Our last week was a blast! On Monday & Tuesday, we worked on our preschool memory books. They enjoyed coloring and writing in them and were very happy to be able to take them home! Many pictures that are in the slideshow below were taken for the memory books. On Monday, we played a ton of board games and did a lot of puzzles. They loved to play Pick Me Up, Piggy — which is a favorite in both classes! On Monday for lunch, there was crispy broccoli and they were all a tad apprehensive, but all enjoyed it and celebrated! Also on Monday, the third graders with Mrs. Costello stopped in to give us a contraption that they made. They used tape, newspaper, and tissue paper to make a fun structure for the kids to climb in. Both classes enjoyed playing with it on Monday and Tuesday On Tuesday, we spent some time outside and many of the kiddos added flowers to each other’s hair. They worked hard on going to find flowers that their friends liked. The last week of school is the perfect time to get a brand new toy, right?! I finally received a magnatile-type package that was ordered long ago that makes a larger version of a marble run using the magnetic tiles. Both classes LOVED this! It is a little tricky for small hands to snap the tunnels into place, but they continued to try until they got it while getting some help. If you are ever looking for a “big” gift for your children, I highly recommend this set. It is from Playroom Collective and they are called Connetix Tiles with the ball run. There are some great pictures below that show how excited they were to play with this! On Wednesday, we were lucky enough to participate in field day! The kids had a blast going from station to station. They enjoyed tire flipping the most as they got to show off how strong they are. Below is information for summer fun! Here are some fun ideas for over the summer to support math and literacy: If you would like to expand on your child's knowledge over the summer, the best advice I could give is to read! Reading at night, reading during long car rides with older siblings, and talking about reading! Counting is always a great and easy way to incorporate more learning into summer play. For example: "How many grapes are we taking for the picnic? Let's count them!" A great kindergarten skill is counting on. For example: "We have 12 toys here and 4 more over there. Let's start counting to see how many we have all together. (start with 12) 12, 13, 14 , 15, 16.” Here are the phrases/sayings we use in preschool to promote equity, understanding, kindness, and the social-emotional well being of all kids. These can be used at home/play dates/etc:
I cannot WAIT to see returning children in August -- and wish the incoming Kindergarten students a wonderful start to Kindergarten, but know I will be missing them so much :) Have a fantastic and relaxing summer with your children, Deanna

Hi Pre-K Families! Announcement:
Can you believe the year is winding down?! Next week is our last week of school and the kids are getting excited for summer. Many of the kiddos that will be going to Kindergarten next year have been sharing their excitement with one another. It's so great to see them grow. Next week, your kids will be coming home with all of their extra clothing and any art work still left at school. Our water days this week were so much fun. The pictures below just don't do it justice! I have never heard them laugh and scream so loud. They enjoyed the pool and water tables, along with getting sprayed from the hose. Our camping area has wrapped up for the year and our dramatic play is back to a kitchen for our last week. They have all really enjoyed the camping and sharing stories about when they went camping and who they go camping with. Enjoy the weekend! Deanna |
