Hi Families! Important announcements about next week:
Other Announcements:
Playground Update: As you may have seen, we are getting a brand new Pre-K playground! Construction happened all week, and we all loved watching it happen through the big window in our classroom. I believe that we will be able to use it starting next week, how exciting! We had a wonderful week filled with learning! Heather Kralik from the Kellogg-Hubbard Library came in on Tuesday and Wednesday. She read a few books, did a craft, and each kid went home with a free book courtesy of KHL. Heather will come again in the spring time. A new student joined our MW class, welcome Ronnie! Friends were kind and welcoming to a new classmate :-) Since the playground construction has been happening all week, we got to play somewhere different which was a nice change of pace. For outside time each day, we went to the tennis courts, where they ran and kicked balls, and colored with chalk. Ms. Honi brought out bubbles on Monday and they chased them everywhere! This was the last week of the farm in our dramatic play, since we will be attending the farm on Tuesday. They are very excited for this field trip! On Monday and Tuesday, I read a book called Spookley, the Square Pumpkin. After the story, we made our own shape pumpkin patches and discussed different shapes. At ECO on Wednesday and Thursday, there were two new pulley systems on branches. They all learned to take turns and practiced saying "I'm dropping it" before they let go of the rope. We are having an absolute blast out at ECO. If you would like to volunteer at ECO, please let me know! Ask Your Child: Were there buckets tied to ropes at your ECO spot? How did it work? What do you have to say before you let go of the rope? Have a great weekend! Ms. Murray

Hi Folks!
Another great week here in Pre-K. The weather was mostly great this week, giving us tons of time to get outside and explore. On Monday and Tuesday, the students washed and cut the potatoes that were harvested from our garden bed in the school garden. Sabrina and April in the kitchen baked them and we got to enjoy them at lunch. They were extremely proud of themselves for preparing their own food. We continued playing in our farm in our dramatic play area. They painted a box green to make it a tractor and had a blast using it around the classroom! The TTh class was very interested in oceans this week, after reading a Magic School Bus book. On Thursday, we created a large map of the shoreline, ocean (including the deep sea), trenches, and islands with volcanoes. Their effort to complete a project so large with a ton of big words was astounding! Ask Your Child: Did you cut potatoes this week? Did you wash them? What did you use to wash them? Did you eat them/were they yummy? Have a lovely weekend! Ms. Murray Hi Families, so sorry about the late blog post. Announcements:
Sickness update: Many, many students are getting sick. This is the time of year where many students get colds and other ailments. It seems that many children in Pre-K have been getting fevers. Your child must be fever free for 24 hours before returning back to school. I hope many sick kiddos have been resting up and feel better! Playground update: We are getting a NEW pre-k playground!!! Construction has already begun. The new fence has been installed, and it won't be long before the equipment will be in. This playground will be accessible to all and will have many fun new features. This week was very fun! It was wet most mornings, so the kids rocked their muddy buddy suits while exploring the water/rock garden. It was exciting for them to explore a new-to-some exciting place. The dramatic play farm is open! They have been workers/farmers and customers at the farm in our classroom. They have enjoyed picking apples and corn and harvesting their own vegetables. There are chickens and cows in our farm. They have been taking care of them. The TTh class made sheep to add to our farm as well. On Wednesday and Thursday, both classes played color & shape bingo toward the end of the day. This was great way for them to consistently identify shapes and colors together, and it was beginning exposure to bingo. At ECO, we collected and made nature crowns. It was exciting for them to explore our spot, which is something they feel proud of, and make a crown with items from the spot. If you would like to volunteer for ECO, please email me! Ask Your Child: Did you play a game called bingo? How do you play? Did you get a bingo? I hope you have a lovely rest of your weekend, and again, so sorry for the late post! Ms. Murray Hi Pre-K Families! Announcements:
On Monday and Tuesday, we began to talk about farms. We discussed if anyone has ever been to a farm before, what animals live on a farm, and how to take care of a farm. They learned that next week, the dramatic play will be transformed into a Farm! They are very excited. On Wednesday, the kids made some chickens with pretend feathers and paper for those to go into our dramatic play farm next week. At ECO this week, we used magnifying glasses that were generously donated to our classroom. The kids shared animals and other living creatures they think live in the woods. They used the magnifying glasses to observe different objects. On Thursday, many friends found extremely tiny mushrooms! We discussed that we look at them and not touch them. Ask Your Child: Did you use a magnifying glass this week in the woods? What did you see when you used it? Have a great weekend with your families, Ms. Murray |
