Hello Pre-K Families! Announcements:
Another great week here in Pre-K. First off, thank you to Elka, who had the amazing idea to change the dramatic play into an under the sea theme. The ocean has been full of mermaids, fish, sharks, jellyfish, and swimmers. Throughout the week, the kids enjoyed the ocean space in the dramatic play and did many fun ocean related activities. Fish, sharks, puffer fish, and beluga whales were made to decorate the classroom. Pre-K scuba divers were made to decorate our bulletin board out in the hallway. Be sure to check it out. The MW class painted the blue and green part of the bulletin board, they were very proud of their painting! On Wednesday, I read The Heart of a Whale by Anna Pignataro, and they all practiced making whale sounds after listening to some. They enjoyed the whale sounds during lunch time as well. On Thursday, I read Charlotte's Bones by Erin Rounds. Before reading it, I let them know that this was a little sad. The story was about the beluga whale bones that were found in Vermont in the late 1800s in Charlotte, VT. They enjoyed learning about people who found bones, right here in Vermont. Throughout the week, proper hand washing has been practiced over and over again. We have practiced singing a hand washing song that helps them remember to wash their hands for long enough. It goes to the tune of Frere Jacques: Tops and bottoms, tops and bottoms In between, in between All around your hands, all around your hands Now they're clean, now they're clean This song could be used at home as well! Many reminders have also been made to not put their fingers in the their mouth, and to try to avoid touching their faces -- this can be really challenging for them, but they have all been working very hard not to. Ask Your Child: Did you read a book about a whale this week? What was it about? What sounds do whales make? Thanks for all your continued support. Have a safe weekend! Ms. Murray
