Ms. Murray's Classes
Hi Families! Announcements:
I hope you all had a great week. We had another fun week at school! On Monday, VT childcare licensing came to do their annual surprise visit. It went swimmingly! Our licensor noted that she left with a smile on her face after all the joy and belly laughs from both kids and adults. These visits are conducted in all childcare places across the state to make sure we are following the correct guidelines in the childcare licensing regulations. If you are curious about the regs, you can read them HERE. In both classes this week, we talked about fruits and vegetables. We sorted fruits and vegetables and talked about which ones we really like and which ones we don’t like. It was great to hear so many friends express how much they like to eat these tasty foods! With the snow starting to melt outside, it is almost puddle season — my favorite time of the year. We spend so much time outside, especially as the weather gets warmer, so please make sure your child has lots of extra clothing in their cubby. If they come home changed, please send in more clothes to replenish their cubby. Thanks! The playground has become pretty wet and they have all been enjoying splashing around. Winter boots will start to get soggy pretty quickly, so it would be great to start sending in rain boots and warm socks so we can stay outside and play. This week, we spent some time learning about magnets. They used magnet wands to move paper clips through paint to make some fantastic art pieces. They were amazed at how quickly the paper clips stuck to the magnets. After that, I took small groups of 4-5 kids at a time to search the school for things that are magnetic. They tested many materials such as wood, poles, doors, books, and even people! They got a kick out of seeing grown ups and kids they knew walking the halls to test if they were magnetic. On Tuesday, the class were wolves out on the playground for almost the entire time. They had an underground wolf restaurant and a wolf house. When we got back inside, we made a shared story together where each child took a turn to tell us what happened next. After we finished writing the story, they took a vote on what to name the story and came up with “One Wolfie Day: An Adventure”. Please see the picture below to see the story. Ask Your Child: Did you use a magnetic wand? What did it stick to at school? What did it not stick to? (Bonus AYC for MT class): Did you write a story about wolves? What happened in it? Can we read the story together? I look forward to meeting with you all next week at conferences to talk about your wonderful kids! Deanna
