Hi Families! Announcements:
This was a fun week before vacation! A big thank you to you all on Tuesday for making an unexpected day of remote learning work. On Monday and Thursday, we had a great time celebrating friendship and Valentine’s Day. They had a great time handing out cards to their friends and doing friendship and love related activities. We all did our “mail a hug” activity. Both classes went down to the gym so they had enough room to spread out. I didn’t have time to mail them out before vacation, so please let your children know I will be putting them in the mail after school vacation. Some of you wanted them sent home, so I will send them home with your child after break. Potion making! On both Wednesday and Thursday, there were many measuring tools to add and make potions. They had so much fun! Many of them were saying what would happen if we drank the potions (as pretend, we went over in detail that we do not drink them). Some said they would change into a horse, or a butterfly. It was very fun! I hope you all have a nice school vacation with your lovely kiddos. I can’t wait to see them again! Deanna

Hi Families! Announcements:
The Play! Wow, what fun they had! We performed the play on Wednesday and Thursday. We performed the play in the gym, and some school adults came to watch. They were excited to see familiar faces watch them! On Thursday, since there are many kindergarten siblings, we “zoomed” the K class in. It was very sweet! In your email, you should have received a google drive email with a video of your child’s play. If you have any trouble opening it or watching it, please let me know. On Wednesday, we played with the castle. They all enjoyed adding different areas and spaces for the “good” and “bad” guys to be. I watched them collaborate with one another. I also suggested, during times of disagreement, that they try to compromise. Compromise has been a big word in both classes recently! On Thursday, we did a ton of painting with a big piece of paper on the ground. They were color mixing and using black, brown, and white to darken or lighten colors. Not a ton of news outside of the play. That was their really big thing to focus on, so a lot of their energy and time went into that. We also had tons of outside time, of course :) Playing hide and seek on Wednesday and all of them pretending to be cats on Thursday were very fun to watch and play with them. Have a great weekend, Deanna Hi Pre-K Families, Announcements:
We had a great snowy week in preschool. We spent quite a bit of time outside, finding some large snow mounds to play on. On Monday morning and Thursday morning, both classes had with some fun Valentine’s Day-esque activites. One activity was matching letter beads into heart shaped boxes. In each box, little stickers with letters were in each spot. The other activity was using pinchers and clothespins to pick up pom poms to put them in little heart shaped containers. You could definitely make a version of the heart shaped box letter activity at home, it was a fun! I got the heart shaped candy boxes at Dollar Tree. On Wednesday, we took a grand adventure to the gazebo all the way across the soccer fields. They were quite tired after, but couldn’t stop talking about how much fun they had! On Monday and Thursday, we re-read Sneezy the Snowman and made our very own melted snowmen! We mixed glue and shaving cream to create puffy paint. Each one of them chose why their snowman melted. Some said that he went into a hot tub, or drank hot cocoa. On Wednesday afternoon, I had the pleasure of stopping into Kindergarten to read a very, VERY silly book. I read the book to the TTh class on Thursday. The book is called Butts are Everywhere by Jonathon Stutzman. I'm sure they will be giggling about it for a few days :) On Wednesday and Thursday mornings, we spent some time using scissors. There were big pieces of paper taped to the table, and they had to use scissors to cut the lines drawn. Some lines were straight and some were zig zag. Both classes enjoyed the "challenge" of the zig zag lines. Have a great weekend, Deanna |
