Ms. Murray's Classes
Hello Families! Announcements:
We had a fun fall week in pre-k. We cut open and gutted pumpkins, and they were very slimy! We learned about descriptive words to discuss the inside and outside of the pumpkin. They have become stellar at yoga! We are focusing on taking deep breaths while we are doing our yoga poses. This week we learned the Mouse Pose. Ask Your Child: Did you touch the inside of the pumpkin? (If so) What did it feel like? As I mentioned in my email, please sign up for a parent-teacher conference via the website http://grades.wcsuonline.org/rumney/conference Once you get to the site, you can click Ms. Murray and there will be several different times and days to choose from. If you are having trouble using the site or if none of those days/times works for you, please contact me. Thanks! Below the slideshow you will find information from Ms. Honi about CC and the Harvest Dinner. Have a great weekend! Ms. Murray The PreK CC program continues to grow! If you are interested in signing your child up for Community Connections after PreK M-Th or for whole day care on Fridays please contact Ms. Honi at [email protected]. Drop in/pre-scheduled care is available as needed. We appreciate as much notice as possible.
The countdown is on to the 11th annual Harvest Dinner. What is the Harvest Dinner? It's a dinner hosted at Rumney School where 100% of the proceeds go to support two important causes - the Middlesex Food Shelf, and the Rumney local food program. The food that our kitchen prepares each day is funded by this event! This year, we will serve FIVE choices of home-made soup, Red Hen and Vermont Gluten Free bread, fall-harvested vegetables, Vermont Village Applesauce, fresh apple cider, and seasonal pies - all prepared with local ingredients by Vermont chefs. In addition, there will be a silent auction and raffle. Again, ALL proceeds from this event fund the Middlesex Food Shelf, and the Rumney local food program. Please come enjoy a delicious dinner surrounded by family and friends in the Middlesex community and beyond on Saturday, November 4 at 5:30 pm. The cost is just $45 for a family! Hope to see you there! We are currently holding a food drive for the Middlesex Food Shelf! Our goal is to bring in 1000 items by next Friday, 11/3. All donations are appreciated! Please bring items that you’d stock your own pantry with for your family. Most needed items include breakfast cereal, pasta, canned fruits and veggies, toiletries. Thank you for your generosity! Contact Ms. Honi for more information!

Hello Families! Announcements: Pre-K WILL be participating in dressing up for Halloween. Dress up days will be Monday, October 30th and Tuesday, October 31st. Please make sure that your child's costume is school appropriate and please, no masks! We had a great time this week soaking up some of the sun that's left! We enjoyed these fall themed books: There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves by Lucille Colandro, and Spookley, The Square Pumpkin by Joe Troiano. We loved reading about Spookley and how he was a brave pumpkin who was also square. We made our own Spookley pumpkins and they are hanging up on the bulletin board in the hallway. Big thank you to Talitha and Tenzo for giving us the opportunity to wash cut up potatoes in our classroom this week. The kids LOVED helping out the school with this activity. Ask Your Child: Tell me about Spookley the Square pumpkin. Did you make your own Spookley? We have tons of pictures this week, so please enjoy 2 slideshows! Have a great weekend, Ms. Murray Hello Families! I wanted to say thank you for coming to the open house and exploring the classroom with your children! They were very proud to show you around :-) Even though this week was short, it sure was jam packed! We worked hard on fine motor skills using tongs to pick up pom poms and put them in some fall themed buckets. This is a great way to practice their fine motor skills. Soon we will start sorting them by colors to work on color recognition. We have been introducing jobs and so far we have: Yoga Helper, Line Leader, Weather Helper, Recess Helper, and two Door Holders. After we get settled in the morning, the students love checking out who has what jobs. We will be introducing more jobs soon within the next few weeks. Ask Your Child: You played with the Kinetic Sand and Play Doh, which one do you like better and why? The weather is getting a little colder, so please send in a jacket/sweatshirt each day and send in a pair of sneakers/closed toe shoes for recess. Thanks! Have a great weekend with your children! Ms. Murray Hello families, Thank you SO much for making the Pre-K Hike a great success! The students had a great time exploring the nature trail with their friends and families. Ms. Honi and I took some great photos but I'm still compiling them all together, so I will make a separate post for hike pictures. Last week was a blast, the students met "Mat Man" for the first time (photo below). Mat Man is from the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum. We sang a song about him, built him, and will eventually learn how to draw him. Ask Your Child: Tell me about Mat Man. Did you sing a song about him? The children had fun playing more in the dramatic play center, taking on roles and doing a ton of acting. Stay tuned for hike pictures. I hope you all enjoyed this lovely long weekend! Ms. Murray |
