Rumney Preschool
Ms. Murray's Classes
Hi Folks -- Announcements:
Wow, what a busy time of year! Your child's behavior might be a little different within these few weeks, due to excitement, travel, etc. Just something to keep in mind! This week was a blast. As always, it's an absolute pleasure to get to be a part of your children's lives, watching them learn and grow. As the year goes on, friendships are becoming more solidified, and they are starting to understand each other's personalities while they play and help each other. Kindness to others is something that is always at the forefront of education, and boy, these kids sure have it! You can tell how much they love and care about each other. Rumney started the Artist in Residency program this week. This year, it is clay making with Ethan Fielder. Ethan is a Rumney alum, and loved teaching them all about clay. They made whatever they wanted on Monday and Tuesday, and we will go back next Monday and Tuesday for our last sessions with Ethan. This week, both classes enjoyed listening to the story The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats. It's a winter favorite! We did a snowy day craft that will be up on our bulletin board next time you stop in. It is a very sweet story, and the movie that we will watch on pajama day is lovely! Due to icy and windy weather conditions, we did not go out into the woods for ECO this week, but had a blast playing on the playground. On Wednesday and Thursday, we used marshmallows and toothpicks to build structures. The kids enjoyed making houses, tents, and shapes. It was very hard for them to not eat the marshmallows! Again, I apologize for the late post. Have a great rest of your weekend! Ms. Murray

Hi Folks! Announcements:
Another great fun week here in Pre-K! The weather has been lovely to play outside, so we have been spending a lot of time out there sledding, making snow angels, and rolling around in the snow. On Monday and Tuesday, we had fun playing with flour. They drew lines and letters in the flour. Drawing zigzags and curves are great for pre-writing skills. In both classes, we read a story called Over and Under in the Snow by Kate Messner. We discussed what hibernation is and what animals hibernate. On Wednesday at ECO, we spent time working together to pull the buckets that were filled with ice. They were quite heavy! On Thursday at ECO, we used our ECO animal names, and built dens for us. We also found many deer tracks and started following them through the woods! On Thursday, we had a lovely special visitor! Blakely's grandma, Mary, came to class with Blakely's mom (and new baby sister!) to read a story and give a special gift to all of the kids. Mary read the The Mitten by Jan Brett. What a fun story! After Mary finished reading the story, she gave everyone mittens that she knitted. Thank you, Mary! Ask Your Child: Did you play with flour this week? What did you trace in the flour? Have a lovely weekend, Ms. Murray |
