Happy Summer Families! Wow, it's all over! What a great last two days we had. The kiddos were exhausted but had so much fun together. We spent most of the two days outside playing, with some kindergarteners joining us to play. If you would like to expand on your child's knowledge over the summer, the best advice I could give is to read! Reading at night, reading during long car rides with older siblings, and talking about reading! Counting is always a great and easy way to incorporate more learning into summer play. For example: "How many grapes are we taking for the picnic? Let's count them!" A great kindergarten skill is counting on. For example: "We have 12 toys here and 4 more over there. Let's start counting to see how many we have all together. (start with 12) 12, 13, 14 , 15, 16." Please enjoy the last slideshow of photos from our last two days. Maybe I will see you at the Farmer's Market or out and about. Have a lovely summer with your kids! Ms. Murray

Hi Families! We are in the home stretch. Please note that Pre-K only runs on Monday and Tuesday next week. Important Dates:
Wow, I can't believe the year is almost over! This is one exceptional group of kids, and they have all had such a wonderful year together. On Monday and Tuesday, we went to the Music room, instead of having Ms. Lanphier come to us. It was exciting for us to go try something different and get used to our Music space. The children danced with scarves and had turns singing all their Music class songs. We worked hard on another directed drawing this week. Our last directed drawing was for Mother's Day (flowers in a pot), and this one was for Father's Day (ice cream cone). Directed drawings have many benefits including taking turns. They watch me draw something (line by line) and then they do it after. Something to note is that your child may be more tired than usual and may be a little more fussy lately. The end of the year takes a lot out of everyone and for most, it is their first time making it through a school year. Be wary of over tiredness. Our lovely Ms. Joanne broke her foot, and the kids have been very worried about her. On Thursday, we came up with a chart, pictured below, on things Joanne can and cannot do. We are all wishing her a speedy recovery! Ask Your Child: Did you go to Music class in the Music room this week? What did it look like in there? There aren't too many pictures this week. We were having too much fun, sorry!! I hope every Father has a lovely Father's Day tomorrow. See you for our last week of school! Ms. Murray Hi Families! I hope you're having a great sunny weekend with your kids. Important Dates:
What a fun week! A BIG thank you to Justin, Blakely's dad, for putting on the best field trip at the fire station! We talked extensively before our field trip about safety since we would be taking the bus (some for the first time), going to the fire station, and then walking to the State House lawn for lunch, and wow, did they do a great job. They followed all the directions, stayed safe, and LOVED the fire station. We took lots of pictures, so a separate field trip slideshow will be under our regular pictures of the week. Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers who joined us! It's been rainy and sunny this week, so some days we were sweating on the playground, and other days we were splashing around in our Muddy Buddy suits. Different temperatures can create different outdoor learning experiences. Many kids on the playground like to find sticks and bang them against things on our playground, such as the play structure or the swing sets, to see what noise they will make. Others like to see how fast they can go on the slide when it's wet while wearing muddy buddy suits and compare it to when it's dry. On Thursday, we found a toad! It was a very exciting experience, and the toad was a trooper. We brought a large bucket outside and created a toad habitat for it with rocks, water, grass, flowers, and sticks. We brought the toad back into our classroom before releasing it at 1:30. By vote, it was named Glitter-Cupcake. TTh families, make sure to ask your child about Glitter-Cupcake :) Ask Your Child: Have you painted at all this week? Did you use brushes or rollers? What did the painting look like? Have a great rest of your weekend! Ms. Murray Hi Pre-K Families! Can you believe it is JUNE?! Wow, this year flew by! Important Dates:
We had some nice weather in the beginning of the days this week, so we spent a lot of time enjoying the outdoors. We watched the kids carry large sticks to build forts and be explorers. They had a great time building on their great friendships that they have made this year. On Tuesday, we had a lovely visit from our friend Katherine! Katherine worked in our classroom in the beginning of the school year, before moving to Arizona. The kids were so excited to see Katherine again :) We played with water buckets this week with different colored water. The kids really liked exploring the buckets with different toys inside. We had wild animals in the buckets one day, and beads and cups in them another day. Ask Your Child: Did you play with water in buckets this week? What color was the water? How do you think the water became a different color? Have a nice weekend! Ms. Murray |
