Ms. Murray's Classes
Hi Families! Announcements:
We had another jam packed week here in Pre-K! On Monday, we used tissue paper, pieces of yarn, small gems, and pieces of foam to make some lovely collages. The children used their fine motor skills to squeeze glue bottles or open glue sticks. They are hanging up in the classroom, check them out next time you are in :) We have been loving the snow! Many snow angels other creations are being made. Our playground is a different world now, with all the snow on the ground. On Thursday, they found deer tracks in the snow and followed them all the way into the woods! We picked our ECO animal names and enjoyed a visit from Ms. Joanne! They all worked as a group to move big fallen down trees together. They made sure they communicated with one another on how and where to move them. I read a wonderful story called Thank you Omu (pronounced AH-MOO) by One Mora. After the book, we discussed it and talked about things and people that we love and care about. Each child created a fun turkey picture and glued feathers onto it. Each feather represented something that they are thankful for. Check out the bulletin board next time you're in the hallway for your child's thankful turkey! Have a nice weekend with your kids, Ms. Murray

Hi Families! Announcements:
It was a short but very exciting week! On Wednesday, the class worked very hard measuring out ingredients to make play dough. We added all the ingredients to the crockpot, and talked about how we don't go near the crockpot while it's cooking. After an hour, I took it out and everyone loved to play with something they made! On Thursday, we enjoyed our first fire in the woods. I was so pleased by their safeness and their ability to restate all of our fire safety rules we discussed in the previous weeks. We roasted apples and added cinnamon to them. It was great fun! If anyone would like to come volunteer for ECO, we would love to have you! Ask Your Child: What was in the blue sensory tables this week? (It was sand) What tools were in there? Have a wonderful weekend! Ms. Murray Hi Pre-K Families! Announcements:
We had a very nice week. They have all been enjoying our playground so much. The rocking bumble bee is a favorite! Once the snow starts really coming down, we will spend a lot of our outside time sledding down our big hill and building snow people. On Monday & Tuesday, they worked on creating their name by gluing each letter onto a piece of paper. For the younger students, order of the letters isn't necessarily that important yet, the goal was to get them familiar with the letters in their name. The older students worked on writing each letter themselves, and then gluing them on. On Tuesday, the class got their pictures taken. We got a class photo taken as well. Those photos should be arriving within a few weeks. On Wednesday at ECO, they enjoyed using the pulleys again and remembered to say "I'm dropping it" before they dropped the bucket. On Thursday, Ms. Honi and the kids gathered all the apples up from the playground and brought them deep into the woods for animals to eat. They had a blast! Both classes enjoyed dressing up in the dramatic play area this week. There were a few new things to dress up as, including a unicorn costume and a mermaid costume. Ask Your Child: Did you dress up in the dramatic play this week? What did you wear? Were you an animal or did you dress up as a job (firefighter, police officer, chef)? I hope you have a lovely chilly weekend with your families! Ms. Murray Hi Pre-K Families! I wanted to say a big THANK YOU for all of your support and help for our field trip to Fairmont Farm. There are so many pictures. The first slideshow has pictures from throughout the week, and the second slideshow has pictures only from the field trip. Announcements:
Wow, what a week! So many fun and exciting things happened, it is hard to report on them all. The field trip to Fairmont Farm in East Montpelier was a huge success! Thank you to the MW families who either dropped off or brought their children, and thank you to families that volunteered and joined us! Bonne from Fairmont Farm led us through the calf area where we got to get close to the calves, some of them licked the kids and they noticed how long their tongues were! Bonne then led us to see the adult cows and explained that many of the cows are pregnant. We swung by the calf area again before getting back on the bus. This was the first week that we used our brand new playground! It was extremely exciting for all of them. New additions are many musical play pieces, a fun structure, two balance beams, and a rocking bumble bee. On Wednesday and Thursday, many students wore their Halloween costumes. We paraded through the school, entering each classroom. It is a fun Pre-K tradition that everyone enjoys! Throughout those two days, we enjoyed many fun activities such as painting pumpkins and a fun candy corn craft. Ask Your Child: Did you walk in a costume parade throughout the school? Did you see anyone you know? Have a great weekend! Ms. Murray |
