Ms. Murray's Classes
Hello families! We had an exciting time in preschool this week. We went outside to play and had so much fun sledding down the hill. We enjoyed listening to stories on CD's, including Llama Llama and the Bully Goat by Anna Dewdney. We had a conversation about being kind to each other, and how to get a grown up if they need help if someone is not being kind to them. We worked on our fine motor and gross motor this week. Using our small muscles in our fingers, the kids used lacing cards. To make their big muscles strong, we had the big mat out on the rug during drop off time. Please email me a picture of your house so we can add it to our block area. Thanks! Ask Your Child: Did you listen to a story called The Three Billy Goats Gruff this week? What happened in this story? Was there a troll? Have a wonderful weekend! Ms. Murray

Hello Families! We had a lovely week in preschool, especially playing outside! This week, we did some watercolor and acrylic paintings so we can decorate our classroom with some pre-k art work. We also played with the blocks to build tall structures and build small homes. The students and I talked and we were hoping we could create a small version of pre-k Middlesex with our blocks. We would love it if you could email me a photo of your house. I will print out each house, and tape them onto a block so we can "build" neighborhoods with our own houses. I will tape a photo of each child to the back of their block house so we will know which house belongs to which child. In the morning, we did a puzzle about things that go together. There were puzzle pieces such as a birthday cake and candles, or feet and socks. They worked with friends to find the matching pieces. Ask Your Child: Did you read a book about Mat Man and opposites this week? This can prompt a discussion about opposites. While reading the story to them I said a word and then ask them an opposite of something (i.e. sit, stand, and night, day). Have a great weekend! Ms. Murray Hello Families! Announcement: There will be NO school on Monday, January 15th and Tuesday, January 16th, due to MLK Jr. Day (Monday) and an Inservice Day (Tuesday). School will resume on Wednesday, January 17th. What a fun week we had! During center time, I worked with the students on color sorting while playing a fun game. I watched the students as they rolled dice and figured out what number it was. Then, they counted out some colorful bears and matched the colored bear to the right spot. The ice cream shop is open and they're having so much fun. We have watched them take turns being the workers and customers, flexing their counting skills, and being great friends. Ask Your Child: Did you hear a story called Dragons Love Tacos? Tell me your favorite part. Have a lovely long weekend with your children, Ms. Murray Hello Families!! Please note that if there is a 2 hour delay, preschool will still run once Rumney opens. I hope you had a lovely winter break with your children. This first week back was a blast! We spent some time this week getting back into the routine of school while doing activities and games that they already knew. We also did many gross motor activities to keep their bodies moving! On Thursday, the class opened up the ice cream shop in our dramatic play. What a fun time they had scooping the ice cream, putting on toppings, and using the cash register! Tomorrow, the M/W class will open it up as well. Hope you had a great weekend! Ms. Murray |
