Ms. Murray's Classes
Hi Families! Announcements:
Week after week, your lovely kids continue to make deep connections with their peers and practice kindness. It is great to watch them start to become friends with one another since they will be going to Rumney together for years to come :) We spent a lot of time with colors and color mixing this week. Although we have already solidified our color knowledge, playing with colors is really fun! We listened to a story on the TV called Little Blue and Little Yellow by Leo Lionni. In the story, Little Blue and Little Yellow hugged each other and turned green! They were all very excited to see that blue and yellow makes green and couldn’t wait to play with the colors after listening to the story. In both classes, after listening to the story, I put out some yellow and blue water and some blue and yellow ice cubes! One friend was so excited as they watched the colors mix to green and declared: “MS. MURRAY! SCIENCE!” They loved scooping and pouring the water and also enjoyed watching the ice cubes melt. Outside, we started to sled! We spend a lot of time in the winter sledding on the hill right outside our classroom door. All together, we each got a sled and practiced how to sit on it and hold on to the handles. They were laughing and screaming the whole time! Something else we did in class this week was play with beads. I got styrofoam for flower arrangements at dollar tree and stuck pipe cleaners inside. They had to match the beads to the pipe cleaner of the same color. It was tricky because they had to steady the pipe cleaner with one hand and “string” the bead on with the other. Our winter books are now out on the shelves. I am looking forward to reading those now that the snow is here! Ask Your Child: Did you play with colored ice cubes this week? What colors were they? What happened when the ice cubes melted? Have a great weekend, Deanna
