Ms. Murray's Classes
Hi Pre-K Families! Announcements:
This week was so fun! On Monday and Tuesday, both classes enjoyed playing with dyed spaghetti in the sensory table. On Monday, they used spoons to twirl and scoop the spaghetti. On Tuesday, they flexed their scissor skills by scooping it up and cutting the spaghetti into small bits. Also on Monday and Tuesday, they also built large structures with magna-tiles. Many of them built houses and talked about who lived in their houses. On Wednesday and Thursday, they tried q-tip painting. I gave them pictures of a flower, a tree with a sun, and a rainbow, all made up of small circles. They dipped q-tips into paint and filled in all the dots. This took a lot of patience and is quite different than big brush strokes while painting on an easel. On Thursday, we took a walk out to the woods. Knowing that we would be on vacation next week, we needed to make sure there were some people who could take care of our ECO spot while we were away. I broke them up into groups of 3-4 kids each, and gave them a small person made out of card stock. They worked together as teams to build small homes for these people, making sure they stayed warm and dry while we were gone for vacation. They communicated their ideas to one another and were proud of their accomplishments! On Thursday afternoon, a volunteer from KHL came to visit and read stories during our downtime after lunch. His name is James and he will be visiting the classes on occasion. Ask Your Child: Did you play with spaghetti this week? Was it different colors? What colors? Describe how it felt when you touched it. Enjoy this long school break with your children, Ms. Murray
