Ms. Murray's Classes
Hi Families! Announcements:
We had a fun week inside and outside. It is great to get to the point where we don’t need snow gear. They were all excited about that. In the MT class, they had an interest in making forts with the rest mats. They enjoyed working together to use the mats to make big and small forts. Some of them covered the forts with sheets and blankets and made houses for our stuffies. Both classes enjoyed having puppet shows! On Tuesday, they used these words to write out tickets to the show: - Puppet show - Ticket - Puppet - Finger puppet They were very interested in the letters and making tickets look real. Kids of this age really love real objects and things that adults use. You might notice that they might want to use real tools or utensils (oppose to ones directly made for kids). On Thursday, they enjoyed working together to make a fun puppet scene. In both classes, there were many audience members of the shows, they all had fun! Everyone saw Bonne this week for the annual hearing screening. She took in one kiddo at a time and they listened to words and pointed to the pictures. Bonne will be in contact with you if she has any concerns about your child’s hearing. Both classes enjoyed playing Spring Bingo this week (which was dubbed “Springo” by a few pals on Tuesday). Bingo is such a fun and quick game. They were learning these words: across, down, diagonal. They were all supportive of one another when someone got a bingo. We talked about the fact that everyone will get a bingo. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we brought big trucks outside. The tennis courts were in use by another class on Tuesday, so they used them on a small hill and filled the trucks up with pine cones and rocks and sent them down the hill. On Wednesday, we got to use the tennis courts. We brought chalk and cars. They had an amazing time! They traced their friends with chalk and added facial features after. We also drew a long and winding road so they could drive the cars on it. Having those turns help their gross motor development! On Thursday, a group of friends spent some time in the block area making something tall. I helped start it with three very long/tall blocks. I heard some amazing communication as they built around those pieces. Here are some quotes: “we need to build a sturdy base” “put blocks around the bottom to keep it stable” and “put it on gently so it won’t fall”. As a team, they decided when they wanted to knock it down and did that together — following one of the big rules in the class which is: If you build it, only you get to knock it down. The first slideshow below is from last week and the second one is from this week. Tons of fun pictures! Ask Your Child: Did you wear a rain suit outside? Where did you play when you went outside? Did you bring anything with you (ex: chalk)? Have a good weekend! Deanna
