Hi Pre-K Families! Announcements:
Sunscreen: Applying sunscreen before school is a great idea. If you would like your child to apply sunscreen for our second outdoor time which happens around 1 pm, please send some in their backpacks. I can help them apply it, or they can do it themselves if they want to. Another week in the books. I can't believe we are so close to wrapping up the school year. Watching your children learn and grow is a true pleasure! We started our camping theme this week and the kids are LOVING it! Many of them have shared their personal experiences with camping along with what happens on their camping trips: fishing, making pancakes, swimming, etc. In the classroom camping area, they have started fires to roast marshmallows and hot dogs! They have also packed up the gear from the camping area to "go on adventures" to other places. Both classes found somewhere to "swim" and jumped in! During this time, they have let me know whether it is night time or morning, and I have adjusted the forest/camping music accordingly. Outside this week, we used some color frames I made out of cardboard. I cut a square out of each and wrote "find something" and added a color with each. When we went out to the rock garden, tennis courts, and baseball field, they all found so many different colors! Some were wondering if we would find certain colors such as orange and purple, but they quickly found the orange fence for the baseball field. Purple was a little more challenging, but they found tiny purple flowers growing near the big rocks at the rock garden. These were really easy to make and can definitely be done at home as well :). Other variations of this could be finding shapes or finding certain nature objects (trees, branches, caterpillars). On Wednesday and Thursday, all the kids made a fun their paper s'more with their names. They added the graham cracker and melty chocolate with brown paper, and then each marshmallow was one letter of their name. Length of names have been discussed a lot at snack time due to their name tags, but they also made observations about name lengths based on how long everyone's s'mores were! Have a fantastic long weekend, Deanna
